★ About the author

Andries de Vries has been drawing cartoons and illustrations since secondary school. Over the years he has tried many different drawing techniques and mixed those into his own style.

His first printed work was drawn for the schoolpaper. Later he made a few cartoons for Brainstorm and Apeldoornextra, of which most are included in the portfolio.

Currently he is planning to set up his own cartoonist studio in order to pay his study in applied physics. After all, drawing cartoons is much more fun that working in a mall!

One of my first cartoons. The original drawings were made by hand with a fineliner. The colors and the tea-effect are made in GIMP. It would be fun to redraw this one to see what I've learned. This image also shows what indexing does to your image. :(

A banana walks into a bar... Never thought the main characters in one of my cartoons would be fruit! One of my classmates made up a banana superhero. Perhaps my inspiration came from him?

This is really the worst joke ever. I should improve it. Suggestions? (Sorry, the comments-script isn't done yet. :p) The text balloons have been made in Paint.net. Paint.net has some usefull tools for drawing circles and rectangles that GIMP has not. (AND it is free.)
